Verdes FC is a Belizean association football club which competes in the Premier League of Belize. The club is currently based in San Ignacio, a town situated in the Cayo District in Belize. The club was first established in 1976 as Real Verdes Football Club. In 2004 there was a change in management, and the name of the club was changed to Hankook Verdes up until 2012, when it was legally acquired by new ownership, with a vibrant management group, who did some innovative rebranding and a total reconstruction of the hierarchy of the club. The club name was subsequently changed to Verdes FC to which it still holds that name to date.
The club is one of the oldest active professional football club in Belize and has been in existence since the inception of the Football Federation of Belize. The club plays their home games at the Norman Broaster Stadium, in San Ignacio Town.
The club has established an excellent reputation for the development of many past and current members of the Belize (Elite) Men’s National Team.
In 1986, Hankook Verdes won the amateur Belize National Football Association Championship and became the first team to represent Belize in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. They have appeared in eight editions of the competition and twice in its successor tournament, the CONCACAF Champions League. Throughout the history of Belizean football, Real Verdes has represented its country more than any other club in Belize. Hankook Verdes has had the most UNCAF Club Tournament appearances of any Belize football club.
Verdes FC in 2015 was the Premier League Closing Season Champion that represented Belize in the CONCACAF Scotiabank Champion League Tournament. The club also appeared in three consecutive editions of the CONCACAF League Tournament from 2020 to 2022 making them the second Belizean club to have participated in that tournament.
Their first attempt in 2020 was halted by a COVID-19 outbreak among the players and technical staff in Santo Domingo. The preliminary round match was cancelled and their opponents, Arcahaie FC, of Haiti was awarded a 3–0 walkover victory. In 2022, Verdes FC rebounded and became the first Belizean club to win a competitive series in the competition, and advanced to the round of 16 in the CONCACAF League Tournament.
In 2023 Verdes FC won the Premier League of Belize Closing Season, and was the aggregate leader in total accumulated points for the 2022/2023 PLB Tournament. They became the first club in Belize to earn the right to participate in the 2023 inaugural CONCACF Central American Cup Tournament which was held among the 20 top UNCAF teams for that period in the central American region.
