San Ignacio, Belize – Verdes FC delivered another spirited performance in international action last night, going toe-to-toe with Costa Rican powerhouse Deportivo Saprissa in a thrilling encounter that ended 2–1 in favor of the visitors.

The night saw our Green Machine match the region’s elite stride for stride. Saprissa took the lead early, but the home crowd erupted just before halftime when Mexican forward Mauricio Lozano fired in the equalizer, sending the teams into the break locked at 1–1.

The second half was an intense, end-to-end battle. Despite Verdes’ relentless pressing and several close chances, Saprissa managed to edge ahead and hold on for the narrow victory.

Head Coach Manu Can praised the team’s determination:

“We showed once again that we can compete with the best in Central America. The boys left it all on the pitch, and we’re proud of the fight they gave.”

Verdes now turns its focus to the Premier League of Belize (PLB), with another home game scheduled for this weekend. After proving their ability to challenge one of the top clubs in the region, the team is calling on all fans to pack the stands and create another unforgettable atmosphere.
