Verdes FC kicked off their 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup campaign with a spirited performance against Honduran powerhouse F.C. Motagua, falling 4–1 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. Despite the result, the Green Machine showed determination, quality, and glimpses of what’s to come.
Motagua capitalized on their chances, but Verdes were relentless in the attack, hitting the post three times and eventually pulling one back through Krisean López in the 82nd minute. The match stats painted a much more competitive picture:
- 64% possession — commanding much of the ball
- 62.6% duels won — strong physical presence
- 57.1% aerial duels won
- 5 corners won vs. 0 conceded
Although the scoreline didn’t reflect the effort, Verdes FC delivered moments of high energy and promise. The team showed they can compete at this level and will now shift focus to bouncing back in their next challenge.
The Green Machine returns to action Tuesday, August 5, as they host Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
With three group matches remaining, the fight continues.
Vamos Verdes. This is just the beginning.
