In a thrilling international friendly at the Great Marshalleck Stadium, Verdes FC fell 1–0 to Guatemalan giants Xelajú FC after an intense battle that showcased both talent and promise as the club prepares for its upcoming Concacaf Central American Cup campaign.

The first half saw Verdes FC’s starting XI dominate the field, controlling over 60% of possession and pressing high with confident, attacking football. Both teams exchanged blows in a fast-paced, end-to-end encounter that had fans on the edge of their seats.

In the second half, Coach Manu made several strategic changes, introducing a number of young talents to the pitch. The youngsters rose to the occasion and matched Xelajú’s energy with determination and heart.

Unfortunately, in the 80th minute, Xelajú’s #11, Steven Cárdenas, broke the deadlock with a well-placed, curling strike that slipped just beyond the reach of our goalkeeper. Despite a strong push in the final moments, Verdes was unable to find the equalizer.

While the result wasn’t what the Green Machine hoped for, the performance on the pitch was full of character, composure, and promise. The fans’ pride was felt in every corner of the stadium, and the squad left a strong impression as we continue to fine-tune for international competition.
