As they gear up for a demanding Concacaf Central American Cup campaign, Belize’s Premier League champions Verdes FC will host Guatemalan club Xelajú MC in an international friendly this Saturday, June 28, at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm.

The match marks a key test for Verdes, who are fine-tuning their squad ahead of their opening group stage clash against Honduras’ Motagua on July 29. Tickets for Saturday’s friendly are available for $20 in advance and $25 at the gate.

Xelajú, known as the Super Chivos, are one of Guatemala’s most popular clubs and will provide a stern challenge for the Green Machine. Both teams are set to compete in the 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup, making this encounter a valuable preview of the regional intensity to come.

Verdes are also in negotiations to play a second friendly next weekend in Cobán, Guatemala, as part of their final preparations.

The Benque-based club will host two of their four group stage matches in Belmopan—against Motagua and Costa Rica’s Saprissa—before traveling to face Club Atlético Independiente (CAI) in Panama and Cartaginés in Costa Rica.

Saturday’s clash with Xelajú offers fans a rare opportunity to see two Central American contenders go head-to-head on Belizean soil.
